President Tinubu departs for China just days after a Chinese firm seized Nigerian presidential jets. Learn more about the implications of this trip.
On Thursday, Bola Tinubu – the President of Nigeria will travel from Abuja to Beijing in China.
Following the recent confiscation of three Nigerian presidential planes in France by Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd, a Chinese company, this visit has been arranged.
After a contract disagreement with the Ogun state government, the Chinese company took ownership of an airplane. Later on, they released it to market as one of their own jets following a verdict by the French court.

Yet, according to a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Tinubu’s trip to China is intended for official reasons.
“A short stopover in the United Arab Emirates awaits President Tinubu.”
During the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the President will have a meeting with Chinese business leaders and also hold talks with President Xi Jinping in China.
The statement stated that on the trip, President Tinubu will be accompanied by high-ranking government officials.
