According to Alake, the President is announcing through us that starting tomorrow, December 21, Nigerians who wish to travel can board public transport via luxury buses and minibuses at a 50% discount off the current fare, as well as all of our train services on the routes that the trains currently run for free during their travels this holiday season.

The extraordinary presidential intervention is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, December 21, and run through January 4, 2024.

“To seamlessly execute this special presidential initiative, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Transportation, will be collaborating with transporters, road transport unions, and the Nigerian Railway Corporation.”

“I can assure you that all pertinent industry stakeholders have been consulted or involved, that all the parameters have been outlined, and that the Minister of Transportation is fully aware of all the details and is at the forefront of the game,” Alake continued.

“In actuality, I’ve met with the presidents of the different transport unions.and the execution of everything is flawless.

Alake clarified, however, that because the project is aimed at the general public, air travel was left out.

This is a popular initiative. Air is a luxury. The general public doesn’t travel by plane. Thus, they are our primary objective,” he clarified.
