President Tinubu congratulates Monday Okpebholo on his victory in the Edo governorship election, offering his best wishes for the future of the state.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Monday Okpebholo has been congratulated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory in the recently concluded Edo State governorship election.

Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 247,274 votes, was defeated by Okpebholo with 291,667 votes. With 22,763 votes, Labour Party candidate Olumide Akpata came in third.

Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued a statement on Sunday in which the President congratulated Okpebholo on his win and said it was evidence of the public’s support for the APC.

“Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate running for governor of Edo State on Saturday, receives congratulations from President Bola Tinubu on his poll victory. The message said, “He challenges him to see this as a difficult call to service rather than to gloat.”

In addition, Tinubu applauded the security services and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for guaranteeing a calm and successful election, and he urged any parties who felt wronged to pursue legal action in court.
