President Bola Tinubu congratulated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State on his election as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF).
He also lauded the unanimous election of the governor of Imo State as the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum.
Thursday’s press release from the State House included Tinubu’s congratulations.
The President was quoted as saying, “I congratulate the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on his election as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), and the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Hope Uzodinma, on his election as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).”
“In a similar vein, I congratulate His Excellency Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, and His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, on their election as vice-chairmen of their respective forums.
“Being asked by their peers to lead them is evidence of the trust and confidence the governors have in them.”
The President charged the new leaders with using their terms to advance the country’s peace, unity, and socioeconomic development and to work with his administration to advance the Renewed Hope agenda.
“As chief executive officers of their respective states, governors are crucial to the success of our administration and our vision for a Nigeria that works for everyone.
“As a crucial fulcrum on our path to a more prosperous and secure nation, what states do or don’t do matters greatly. Therefore, I am obligated to request that the new leaders use their influence to facilitate a convergence of vision between the Federal Government, under my leadership, and state governments.
“My prayer is that you discharge the responsibilities bestowed upon you through this election with diligence,” President Tinubu added.
