President Bola Ahmed Tinubu honors the Oba of Benin on his 71st birthday and 8th coronation anniversary, recognizing his leadership and contributions to the Benin Kingdom and Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, on his 71st birthday, celebrated on October 20th. This date also marks the eighth anniversary of the King’s ascension to his ancestral throne.

In a statement released on Saturday, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, highlighted that since the 2016 coronation of Benin’s 40th Oba, his reign has ushered in an era marked by peace, understanding, and civility among the people.

“The statement noted that the President is convinced Ewuare’s distinguished diplomatic career has shaped his leadership approach and instilled confidence in the public regarding his capacity to lead with wisdom and grace.”

Oba Ewuare held the position of Nigeria’s Ambassador to Angola and Sweden at different times, also being accredited to Norway, Denmark, Finland, and subsequently Italy.

President Tinubu praised the Oba for his bravery and steadfast dedication to maintaining the rich cultural heritage and traditions of his domain.

He stated that the King’s tireless efforts and exploration of international networks to recover invaluable artefacts, which embody the history, identity, and nationality of the Benin Kingdom, demonstrate his deep love for his people.

Tinubu stated that efforts to preserve the culture serve as a source of pride and unity for everyone connected to the rich history of the Benin Kingdom.

The President praises Ewuare II for his insightful guidance to leaders in both the private and public sectors, as well as his strong support for participatory democracy and development. His ongoing dedication to promoting civic responsibility and active democratic participation serves as an inspiration, fostering hope for a better future.

President Tinubu extends his sincere prayers for the ongoing well-being of the Oba of Benin, his family, and the entire kingdom.

“May Ewuare II’s wise and benevolent leadership ensure the Kingdom’s continued prosperity, and may he and his family be blessed with health and happiness,” the statement added.
