Tinubu Arrives in Lagos to Launch Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road Construction

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State to officially open the Lagos-Calabar Superhighway, a major infrastructure project that is estimated to cost around N15 trillion.

This 700 km coastal road will connect Lagos to Cross River, passing through several states including Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.

Despite facing criticism from some Nigerians who believe the timing of the project is inappropriate, Works Minister Dave Umahi has defended it, stating that it is in the best interest of the country.

As part of his one-year anniversary celebrations, President Tinubu will also commission other significant projects, such as the concrete-paved road to the nation’s major ports in Apapa and Tin Can Island, the refurbished Third Mainland Bridge, and the rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges across Nigeria.

After his engagements in Lagos, President Tinubu will continue his commissioning activities in Abuja, including the inauguration of the Southern Parkway and the relaunch of the commercialization of Abuja Light Rail.

President Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the Wuye Flyover-Link Bridge and the Defence Intelligence Agency Headquarters after his train ride. Additionally, on Friday 31 May, he will commission the NASENI-Portland Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Reverse Engineering Centre at Utako.
