President Tinubu approves N10 billion to boost Nigeria’s Digital Switchover Initiative, aiming to enhance digital broadcasting and communication across the nation.

A funding allocation of N10 billion for the digital switchover initiative has been approved by President Bola Tinubu.

Under the earlier administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, an initiative was launched to shift from analogue to digital television broadcasting.

During a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, Charles Ebuebu- Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)- made it clear that the funds would be used to enhance and update current infrastructure instead of creating new ones.

Ebuebu explained that the N10 billion approved by the president is a major advancement in their previous endeavors, enhancing funding for this process.

The grant is a clear indication of Ebuebu’s dedication to ensuring that all Nigerians have access to superior broadband services and are involved in the digital economy. To accelerate this transformation, NBC has teamed up with the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).

Ebuebu stated that this partnership is a deliberate effort to foster seamless transition into digital broadcasting and demonstrates NCC’s commitment to championing and ensuring the triumph of this essential venture.
