In exercising the authority granted to him by the 1999 Constitution as amended, President Bola Tinubu signed a new amendment to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Thursday at the State House.
The “Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Fifth Alteration) (No.37), 2023” proposed by the departing 9th National Assembly was enacted by President Tinubu.

According to the president’s spokesman, Abiodun Oladunjoye, Tinubu declared his administration’s commitment to bolstering the judiciary, upholding the rule of law, and enabling judicial officials to carry out their duties successfully as he signed the amendment Bill into law.
