Tinubu Appoints Olatunji Bello as CEO and Vice Chairman of FCCPC

President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Mr. Olatunji Bello as the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC. This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.

According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s media aide, Mr. Bello is a lawyer, administrator, and well-known journalist. He previously served as the secretary to the Lagos State Government and holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. He also studied Law at the same university and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

Mr. Bello began his career in journalism at the Concord Newspapers in 1985 and has held various positions such as Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord. He has also been recognized for his achievements, winning the US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and being appointed Chairman of the Editorial Board of THISDAY Newspapers in 2001.

Furthermore, Mr. Bello has served as Commissioner for Environment under different administrations in Lagos State.

Ngelale stated that the President has high expectations for the new CEO of this significant agency. It is expected that Mr. Bello will ensure the comprehensive fulfillment of the commission’s mandate, which involves safeguarding and advancing the interests and well-being of Nigerian consumers. Additionally, he is tasked with implementing measures to guarantee the safety and quality of goods and services.
