Tinubu Appoints Idris Olorunnimbe as UBEC Chair, Mohammed Aminu as NABTEB Registrar

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Idris Olorunnimbe as the Chairman of UBEC and Mohammed Aminu as the Registrar of NABTEB. Read more on their new roles and expectations.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Dr. Mohammed Aminu as the new Registrar and CEO of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
He mentioned that Aminu, who possesses a Ph.D. in Automobile Technology and a Master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, has 28 years of experience in teaching, administration, research, and policy development.
The statement noted that prior to his appointment, he was the Director of Procurement at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
Dr. Aminu, a staunch supporter of vocational education, skills development, and youth empowerment, has authored research on innovative teaching methods and poverty reduction strategies.
In the statement, Tinubu encouraged him to deliver transformative leadership at NABTEB to improve the certification of skilled human resources essential for Nigeria’s industrial development.
The President additionally named Idris Olorunnimbe as the Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Board.
Rasaq Olajuwon has been appointed as the Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) at UBEC, and Tunde Ajibulu will take on the role of Deputy Executive Secretary (Services).
The presidential spokesman highlighted that Olorunnimbe brings extensive experience in innovative leadership, along with a strong commitment to youth empowerment and education.
As the Group CEO of The Temple Company, which he established in 2016, he has led groundbreaking initiatives across the fields of education, entertainment, and sports.
He formerly served on the Board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he led both the Stakeholder and Governance Committees to drive impactful youth employment and entrepreneurship programs.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Olajuwon served as the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA). Meanwhile, Mr. Ajibulu is a Fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and holds positions as both a Director at Tangent Construction Nigeria Limited and a Partner at Covenant Consultancy Services.
Onanuga stated that President Tinubu urged the new appointees to bolster the human resources required for educational reforms and improve service delivery at UBEC, thereby ensuring widespread access to quality basic education across the nation.
