Tinubu: Africa Possesses the Resources to Drive Its Own Development

President Bola Tinubu asserts that Africa has the potential and resources to achieve self-sustained development, urging unity and strategic investment across the continent.

President Bola Tinubu has urged Africa to take immediate action, emphasizing that the continent possesses the necessary resources and capabilities for self-development.

He stated this on Monday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, during a meeting with Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame.

The two leaders are in Abu Dhabi to participate in Sustainability Week, taking place from January 12 to 18.

At the summit, Tinubu is anticipated to highlight his administration’s reforms, which encompass areas such as energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development.

In a post on his official X account, @officialABAT, the president stated, “This evening, just before Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week begins, I had meaningful discussions with Rwandan President Paul Kagame.”

Africa possesses all the necessary ingredients for self-development. We have abundant resources, talented people, and substantial capacity. It’s crucial to focus on enhancing intra-African trade and collaboration to uplift both our communities and the continent as a whole. The moment for Africa is now.

Earlier, Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesman, stated that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, invited Tinubu to participate in the summit.

Tinubu traveled to Abu Dhabi on Sunday following an invitation from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, announced Tinubu’s arrival in a post on his page on X.

Olusegun wrote that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He was welcomed by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for UAE.

The summit, carrying the theme “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,” is set to take place from January 12th to 18th in Abu Dhabi. This event will gather global leaders with the aim of speeding up sustainable development and promoting socio-economic advancement.

In Abu Dhabi, the President is anticipated to give a speech emphasizing his administration’s significant reforms, with a focus on energy efficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development.

During the visit, Tinubu and his team are anticipated to engage in discussions with UAE leadership aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for economic and diplomatic partnerships.

The forum is designed to be a platform where policymakers, business leaders, and civil society representatives can collaborate on strategies for moving towards a sustainable economy while promoting global prosperity.

The president was joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President; and Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
