On Saturday, President Bola Tinubu declared that his administration would adequately fund the improvement of the operational capacity of security and law enforcement organisations.
At the Nigeria Police Academy’s 5th Regular Course Passing Out Parade at Wudil, Kano, Tinubu issued the assurance in the vice president’s place, Kashim Shettima.
In a statement on Saturday, Mr. Olusola Abiola, Director of Information, Office of the Vice President, announced this.
The Nigerian president also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to enhancing employee welfare as part of its reinvigorated effort to address security and associated issues across the nation.
“This administration is determined to putting into action practical solutions to Nigeria’s security issues, and our cooperation is the surest path to success. We are putting into action a thorough strategy that concentrates on important areas.
“First, we are making investments in our law enforcement organisations to increase their efficiency and capacities. In order to strengthen our Police Force and Security Agencies, we are providing additional funding, training, and equipment.
At the national and international levels, “we are simultaneously improving our intelligence systems and information sharing.”
According to Tinubu, the government is aware that working cooperatively with foreign nations is necessary to handle security concerns.
“As a result, we are forging alliances to effectively combat transnational threats. Additionally, we are implementing comprehensive social programmes and economic development initiatives with the goal of promoting inclusivity, social cohesion, and economic opportunities for everybody,” the President continued.
The President praised the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their efforts and stated that “it is now our moral duty to support the Nigeria Police Force and other security organisations as they step up their efforts to increase public safety.”
“We must exert every effort within our power to ensure that the security of the lives, properties, and investments of both domestic and foreign investors improves.”
President Tinubu urged members of the Force to consistently uphold the integrity, honesty, and compassion that are the three pillars of our Police Force.
“Regardless of background, we must treat all individuals equitably and defend their human rights. As we defend the rule of law, our conduct must reflect the greatest ethical standards. Together, we represent the values that characterise a reliable and accountable Police Force.
He expressed confidence in the graduates’ capacity to work within the parameters of the current administration.
He said, “I feel you are fully qualified to serve this country with the calibre of training that you have received over the five years in the Academy.
“May you all set out on this journey with fortitude and courage, aware that the country needs your patriotic contributions. Keep being watchful, being together, and committed to the principles that make our Police Force a model of honour and integrity.
Earlier, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, the Commandant of the Academy, praised the Federal Government for its steadfast support of the school.
