On Tuesday, there was a large security presence at the Osun State High Court in Osogbo, prior to the verdict in the murder trial of Timothy Adegoke.
In November 2021, Adegoke, a graduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, perished mysteriously in his hotel room at Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife.
The state has deemed his demise to be a case of homicide.
In relation to the alleged homicide, six hotel employees and the hotel’s chairman, Dr. Raheem Adedoyin, the Maye of Ile-Ife, were apprehended and arraigned.
Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Adebayo Kunle, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adedeji Adesola, and Adedeji Adesola were charged with 18 counts of conspiracy, murder, felony, indecent interference of the corpse, alteration, and cancellation of receipt and oath-taking to thwart justice.
The heavily armed police officers were seen inspecting everyone entering the courtroom.
They were also observed occupying vantage points at various locations within the Osun State High Court complex.
At 10:09 a.m., the judge had not yet sat to begin reading the judgment.
