Timi Frank claims that Tinubu is preparing for a state of emergency in Niger

Following a coup in Niger Republic, Timi Frank, a former APC deputy national publicity secretary, claimed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, was planning to suspend the current Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and establish a state of emergency.

In a statement he gave to the media on Saturday, he said that the President was asking the Senate for permission to declare war on Nigeria over a coup in Niger. This would allow him to impose a state of emergency and halt the meeting of the Presidential Election tribunal.

He cautioned President Tinubu against leading Nigeria into conflict with the nearby Niger because doing so would cause long-term economic, political, and social destruction in the already fragile country.

“It is obvious to astute minds that Tinubu wants to find a pretext to declare war in Niger and, under that pretext, declare a state of emergency in Nigeria, which will invariably result in the suspension of the current session of the Presidential Election tribunal,” he stated.

He doesn’t want to bring back democracy in the Niger Republic. He wants to give his regime legitimacy and recognition among allies in the West. Let Nigerians handle their own issues. Nigeria faces enough difficulties on its own, he said.
