On Monday, Ogun State police detained three robbery suspects who were reportedly harassing the area around Ewekoro.
Jimoh Wahab, Sunday Ajibola, and Ahmed Isiaka were named as the suspects.
According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesman for the Ogun State Police, the suspects were apprehended after the Ewekoro division received a distress call reporting that a 4-man robbery gang had entered the Apomu Community in the Ewekoro Local Government Area and was robbing the residents of their possessions.
The Ewekoro division’s DPO, CSP Jacob Olayemi, was reported to have dispatched his patrol squad right away in response to the distress call.
Oyeyemi said that the hoodlums bolted when they saw the police, but they were pursued and three of them were captured with the help of locals.
One locally made double-barreled handgun, five live cartridges, one used cartridge, two bikes—a Bajaj with the registration number TTN 975 VU and a TVS with the registration number JBD 353 W—and several illicit charms—were among the goods found from the suspects, according to Oyeyemi.
Frank Mba, the commissioner of police, has ordered that the suspects be sent to the State CIID for a covert investigation in the meanwhile.
