The Nigerian Army claims that two upgraded oil bunkering camps were discovered and demolished in Egbema West, Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, by its operatives, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and TANTITA Security Services.

According to a statement from Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, the forces totally shut down the illicit refining site, which contained 53 bags of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 44 drums and three reservoirs with a combined capacity of an estimated 30,000 litres.

He said, “Four active illegal refining camps were also destroyed by the combined team in Opumami Community, Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.”

According to the statement, “the anti oil theft operatives destroyed three wooden boats, six ovens, six reservoirs, eleven drums of illegally refined AGO, one large reservoir filled with stolen crude oil, 38 sacks of stolen crude oil, and two tapping hoses.”

In a related incident, on Thursday, Hybrid Force and the combined forces of the 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison began offensive operations in the general regions of Gobara, Ambaga, and Madachi in the Gwoza Local Government regions of Borno State.

Nwachukwu claims that “the troops neutralised three Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one Beretta pistol, 17 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, four rounds of nine mm ammunition, and a dane gun.”
