Three Suspects Arrested in Abia for Killing Married Couple

Abia State police have nabbed three suspects involved in the murder of a couple. Read more about the arrests and what investigators have uncovered.

The Abia State Police Command has apprehended three individuals linked to the murder of an elderly couple, Mr. Jacob Udo and his wife, Mrs. Dorcas Udo, in Etiti-ulo Bende within the Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

The police also reported that those responsible for the couple’s murder stole their belongings.

The three suspects currently being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia are detained in connection with the heinous crime.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, announced the arrest of the suspects on behalf of the state’s Commissioner of Police.

According to the Abia State Police Command, Jacob Udo was 78 years old and his wife, Dorcas Udo, was 73 years old before their tragic deaths. An autopsy will be conducted on their bodies.

The Police Spokesperson stated that Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, has voiced his deep concern regarding the unfortunate incident and assured the people of Abia to stay calm as efforts are underway to unravel the mystery behind this criminal act and ensure swift justice.

On October 2, 2024, at approximately 8:30 AM, a report was received by Bende Divisional Headquarters that Mr. Jacob Udo (male), aged 78 years old, and Mrs. Dorcas Jacob (female), aged 73 years old—both residents of Etiti-ulo in Bende LGA but originally from Ndiwo Itumbuzo in the same local government area of Abia State—were discovered lifeless and lying in a pool of blood within their compound at the stated address.
