Three students have been remanded in custody following allegations that they caused the death of a fellow student. Read more about the case.
Three students have been ordered to be remanded by an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Tuesday, over allegations of causing the death of their fellow student.
Shodimu Halima aged 18, Agbedun Zainab aged 23 and Olaleye Oladunni also aged 23 from Iseyin College of Health Science and Technology have been charged with two counts relating to conspiracy and murder.
The Magistrate, Mr. M. Mudashiru lacked jurisdiction to take their pleas thus ordered they be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan.
According to Mudashiru, the remand was awaiting legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Afterwards, he postponed discussing the issue until December 30th.
According to the prosecution attorney, Inspector Femi Oluwadare, it was purported that the accused colluded with unidentified cohorts to perpetrate the crime.
As per the prosecutor’s statement, on July 29 at around 4:00 p.m. in Iseyin, Oyo State; the defendants are accused of causing fatal injuries to Eniola Ismail who was just sixteen years old by assaulting her with their fists.
On July 29, it is alleged that the defendants engaged in a fight with the deceased at school and subsequently, the deceased returned home.
“He said that the deceased complained of body pains upon arriving home, but later passed away.”
According to Oluwadare, the infractions went against Section 316 and could be penalized under Sections 319 and 324 of the Criminal Code Laws that relate to Oyo State in the year 2000.
