In Zamfara’s Tsafe local government zone, a checkpoint was attacked, resulting in the deaths of three police personnel.
The bandits reportedly struck during a police stop-and-search operation near the Funtua-Gudau Highway, according to a source.
According to him, five additional police officers and the driver of the police patrol van fled into the woods for protection, leaving three police officers dead.
Although the driver was eventually discovered unconscious in the forest and taken to Tsafe General Hospital, it was not possible to determine the location of the other five police officers.
“Medical attention is currently being provided to the police driver at the hospital.” As of when I visited the hospital, the man is still unconscious. He was unable to sit comfortably.
The insider further said that at around 1:00 pm, an attack occurred at the checkpoint, which is less than two km from Tsafe town.
We found out that the robbers stored their motorcycles in the farms close by, far from the checkpoint, and then hiked over to kill three of them.
Nine police officers were on duty throughout the attack, according to a second source who spoke with this newspaper. The source added, “I passed them a few minutes before the unfortunate attack.” The incident happened half an hour after I got through the checkpoint.
In response to the most recent event in Zamfara’s growing wave of insecurity, the police authorities have not yet responded.
