Three people were detained for allegedly smuggling cocaine to Saudi Arabia

For allegedly helping to facilitate the trafficking of cocaine to Saudi Arabia, the police in Kano State have detained three men.

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest in a statement to OBASANJO NEWS24.

He claimed that two of the suspects, Auwal Ishaq and Idris Sani Suleiman, told the police that one Hajiya Sharifat Abdullahi had used their wives in exchange for a trip to perform pilgrimage rituals with the promise that they would transport an unspecified substance from their connection at the Lagos Airport and deliver it to someone at the airport in Saudi Arabia.

In his words, “On 11/07/2023 at about 1200hrs, one Auwal Ishaq of Kawo Quarters and Idris Sani Suleiman of Medile Quarters, Kano jointly reported to police that they were contacted in June 2023 by one Hajiya Sharifat Abdullahi of Kuregen Sani Hotoro, Kano to allow their wives to travel through international routes via Lagos Airport Terminal.”

“One of the complainants, Auwal Ishaq, claimed that he paid the sum of six million naira (N6,000,000:00) for his two wives; Binta Nasidi and Zulaihat Ahmed Adam, while Idris Sani Suleiman also claimed to have paid three million naira (N3,000,000:00) for his one wife, Rashida Abdullahi, on agreement for travelling together to perform Pilgrimage rites with the arrangement that they would convey some undisclosed substance in Saudi Arabia.

The police were informed by both of the complainants that they had lost communication with them since leaving Nigeria, and that their attempts to contact them had been unsuccessful, according to SP Kiyawa.

In the future, he claimed, one of the complainants informed police that he had learned from one of his wives over the phone that the Saudi Arabian Authority had detained them all for drug trafficking offences after this year’s Hajj Operational activities were finished.

The primary suspect, Hajiya Sharifat Abdullahi, was apprehended by police, according to SP Kiyawa, who also verified that the complainants were involved in the inquiry.

were involved in the agreement and are aware that their spouses will serve as couriers for the abovementioned secret items to be delivered to a woman at the Saudi Arabian airport.

Idris Sani was promised one 150,000.00 payment for acting as a middleman after lying and falsely claiming to be Rashidat Abdullahi’s husband. The two wives of Auwal were promised one million naira (N1,000,000.00) each when they returned after a successful delivery.

The suspect (Hajiya Sharifat) claims that “the two wives of one of the complainants (Auwal) were promised one million naira (N1,000,000:00) each when they were back after successful delivery, while Idris Sani was promised one hundred and fifty thousand naira (150,000:00) payment to him for playing a middleman role.”

Additionally, according to SP Kiyawa, the suspect (Hajiya Sharifat) admitted to collaborating with the other complainant (Idris Sani Suleiman) to recruit individuals for the aforementioned Kano-based cartel of firms engaged in human and drug trafficking.

He claimed that both of the complainants had been accused and were in custody.

According to the police spokeswoman, the case has been given to the state office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) so that the investigation can be finished.
