In Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, three passengers on a tricycle were allegedly run over by an inexperienced driver.

Our source states that the event happened on Tuesday close to the Oru-Ijebu Igbo route’s Maranatha axis.

The collision, which happened at approximately 11 a.m., involved a Toyota Camry sedan with registration number SGM 88 AE and a commercial tricycle carrying refugees from the previous camp in Oru-Ijebu Igbo of the state’s Ijebu North Local Government Area. The tricycle was marked TTN 117 VV.

Three of the six people riding in the tricycle died after the automobile, being driven by a female trainee, lost control and collided with it while travelling at high speed in Ijebu, Igbo.

In Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, a mob was enraged by the occurrence and came to the scene, setting the car on fire, according to Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesman for the state’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), who confirmed the accident to journalists.

Akinbiyi also disclosed that “the enraged mob, who also attacked the security operatives, resisted attempts by the uniform personnel carrying out rescue operations to take photographs at the scene, while the TRACE personnel were able to carry out strategic traffic control few metres away from the point of the crash to avoid traffic gridlock on the road.”

However, the TRACE spokesman claimed that the injured victims were also rescued and taken to a private hospital in Ago-Iwoye for medical attention, after the remains of the victims were transported there.
