The Minister of Works, David Umahi, expressed his disappointment in the fact that many of the people he assisted in attaining political power during the 2023 general election now avoid him.

He revealed this during a conversation with journalists in Abakaliki. Umahi mentioned that even the National Assembly members whom he helped to power were among those who now distance themselves from him.

However, he stated that he was not bothered by their behavior. He pointed out that Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi is the only one who openly acknowledges him as his father and boss, while others fear that the state governor, his successor, would be displeased if they did the same.

Umahi emphasized that the governor himself openly acknowledges that Umahi played a crucial role in his emergence.

Due to the current situation, Umahi has decided to stop having political godsons and instead focus on building political friendships.

He expressed his determination to support the governor and fight against anyone who causes trouble for him, as he believes the governor deserves respect.

Umahi acknowledged that there are often conflicts between predecessors and successors, but he is not available for such conflicts because he feels blessed by God.

He believes that seeking someone’s failure only leads to one’s own failure. Umahi pledged his loyalty to Nwifuru for eight years and thanked God for giving the governor the ability to unite all the leaders of the state.
