People of Delta State’s Okuoke Community, Elume Clan, in the Sapele Local Government Area have bemoaned the lack of roads and drinkable water in their area.
They also bemoaned the appalling condition of the region’s sole school, Ohwekwe Primary School.
The majority of them were farmers who complained that it was impossible to get their produce to the market since a river had engulfed the entry to the community from the Elume axis.
Glory Speaking on behalf of the community, Michael Asiughwure, President/Founder of Royal Diadem Apostolic Church in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, claimed that because Okuoke was overlooked by previous governments, it is the only community with unpaved roads.
You may see a large body of water, resembling a river, as you approach this town. It is a very awful condition to go into the water now that it is raining, he remarked.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was asked by him to assist the locals.
During elections, we do in fact cast our votes for them. I personally went to talk to them so that they would support the cause and help us attract the public’s attention.
“There is no road and no development at the elementary school. The Warri Road entry road and this other entry road are the only two routes that enter the village, and they are both completely surrounded by the river. Many of the local youths are pleading for jobs. There are numerous issues with which the government can truly assist us.
In addition, Asiughwure urged the Okuoke Community’s residents to unite and pray for the advancement of their country.
In an interview with the Daily Post, Aligba Solomon Ukohoro, the councillor who represents the residents of DSIEC Ward 16, Elume INEC Ward 10, in the Sapele Local Government Council, expressed regret about the condition of the road.
Because there is no local government authority, he declared, “It is beyond my personal power. As a result, they are unable to change the road. They had accomplished what little they were able to.
In addition, he urged the national, state, and municipal governments to keep Okuoke in mind when planning their future development, particularly in terms of infrastructure and human resources. He claimed that the local hospital is operational.
