The family of the late Akintola Williams, the dean of the accounting profession, received condolences from the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) on Monday.

According to Tony Nezianya, NOC’s public relations officer in Lagos, NOC was shocked to learn of the death of Chief Akintola Williams, a true legend in the accounting industry.

Akintola Williams & Co., which eventually amalgamated with Deloitte & Touche, was founded by Williams and he served as its Senior Partner.

Williams, who is 104 years old, was not just a visionary leader but also a kind person, according to Habu Gumel, president of the NOC, who underlined this in a statement. Williams’ company’s pro gratis work for the NOC was one example of this.

“His extraordinary journey has made a lasting impression on Nigeria’s commercial environment and beyond.

“The committee’s accounting reporting has been strengthened thanks to Akintola Williams & Deloitte’s more than 20 years of auditing NOC accounts.

Gumel praised the man’s “truly admirable dedication and commitment to serving the community, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.”

Akintola Williams & Deloitte Accounting firm’s essential services, which unquestionably helped to shape the accounting profession in Nigeria, were recognised by NOC, he continued.

“His unflinching integrity has raised the bar, which has had an effect on the nation’s economic development.

“As we pause to consider Williams’ amazing accomplishments and contributions, let us also keep in mind his family’s tragic loss in mind.

“We sincerely hope that the stories shared and the admiration from so many people might bring some comfort during this difficult time.

“May his gentle soul find eternal peace and his remarkable legacy endure through all those who have been touched by his work,” Gumel added.
