Following the conclusion of Europe’s top five competitions over the weekend (Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1), DAILY POST highlights the Ballon d’Or power rankings.

The 2023 Ballon d’Or recipient will be revealed on Monday, October 16, 2023.

According to DAILY POST, five players deserve to be in the top five of the Ballon d’Or power rankings after the conclusion of Europe’s main competitions over the weekend.

In the last thirty days, football commentators, current and former players, and football managers, among others, have been contending for their preferred 2023 Ballon d’Or winners.

Here are the Ballon d’Or Power Rankings after Europe’s top five competitions have concluded:

Haaland won the Premier League and the FA Cup with Manchester City. He won the Premier League’s top scorer award after surpassing the record with 36 goals. The Norway international is also the Champions League’s leading scorer. On June 10, he could win the Champions League if Manchester City defeats Inter Milan. Haaland has tallied 52 goals and provided nine assists for Pep Guardiola’s team in all competitions.

Lionel Messi (Argentina) – Messi led Argentina to the World Cup victory in December of 2014. The 35-year-old also claimed the Golden Ball during football’s championship match. Messi has already won seven Ballon d’Ors. The former Barcelona captain, who played his final match for Paris Saint-Germain against Clermont Foot over the weekend, claimed the French Ligue 1 championship with the Parisians. Messi may no longer be the clear favorite, as PSG’s early exit from the Champions League this season was a significant setback. Before his departure, Messi tallied 21 goals and provided 20 assists in 41 appearances for PSG across all competitions.

Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) – PSG’s early Champions League exit in the Round of 16 against Bayern Munich has not helped Mbappe’s pursuit of his first Ballon d’Or.

Mbappe’s extraordinary goal-scoring form for both club and country could propel him to the podium this year.

This season, the France international scored over 50 goals for club and country. The 24-year-old claimed the Golden Boot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and scored a hat-trick against Argentina in the championship game. This season, Mbappe tallied 41 goals and registered 10 assists in 43 appearances for PSG across all competitions.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) — This season, De Bruyne led Manchester City to the Premier League and FA Cup titles. When Pep Guardiola’s squad faces Inter Milan in the Champions League final, the Belgian international will also expect to lead his team to victory. This season, in 48 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 10 goals and registered an astounding 31 assists for the Premier League champions, Manchester City.
This year, the 31-year-old has accomplished enough to be a legitimate contender for the Ballon d’Or.

  1. Victor Osimhen (Napoli) – This season, Osimhen lead Napoli to the Serie A championship. The Nigerian international has firmly established himself as one of the world’s finest forwards. This season, he also helped Napoli advance to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.
This season, the 24-year-old scored 30 goals and dished out five assists in 38 appearances across all competitions for Napoli. Osimhen has performed well enough this season to achieve a spot on the Ballon d’Or podium.
