Terrorists on the rampage have stormed Kidandan, a community in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area. Although the exact number of casualties is unknown, a vast number of locals fled the area in search of safety to adjacent communities.

The community allegedly failed to pay levies imposed on the terrorists to allow them to go to their farms, so the terrorists assaulted the community and started firing intermittently, according to a source.

In addition to the deaths that were reportedly reported, more information revealed that several people had also been kidnapped during the assault.

Journalists were informed by survivors that the terrorists, who had been terrorising the village for a while, had grown more violent as a result of farmers’ refusal to pay bandit charges that had previously been placed on them.

A few days prior to the Kidandan attack, residents of Tudun Biri hamlet in Kaduna State’s Igabi Local Government Area were accidentally bombed, resulting in the deaths of over 80 people and the injury of over 70 more.

“The bandits have been coming to Kidandan for the past six days, but this attack was devastating,” stated a victim who did not want his identity to be revealed. They terrorised us, stole from us, and kidnapped our people. Every Kidandan resident experiences constant terror.

“A large number of our ladies and children were moving out. It would surprise you how many people made this violent and ill-prepared escape. They may be relocating to Zaria and other areas that seem safe in order to squat with friends and family in search of safety.

Additionally, he claimed that the security personnel did not maintain a constant presence in the community, but rather just conducted patrols, which allowed the bandits to operate anytime they knew the security personnel were gone.

As of the time this report was filed, ASP Munsur Hassan, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kaduna State Police, could not be reached when a call was placed to him for a response.
