Terrorist attack on Islamic procession in Katsina claims the lives of many

Following a terrorist attack on a Maulud parade by Muslim faithful in Kusa village, in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, numerous people lost their lives.

According to information obtained by our correspondent, the event, which happened about 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, saw over 30 persons suffer gunshot and non-bullet injuries, while another 21 people—including women and children—were reported to have been taken hostage.

There are differences, nevertheless, on the precise number of fatalities; some locals claim as many as thirty people perished, while some claim even more.

Bala Ibrahim, a council area resident and deputy chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), reported that 17 individuals were wounded by bullets and that 14 people had died.

Only two people died in the incident, according to the state’s police leadership, while eighteen more were hurt.

According to reports, the terrorists surrounded the Maulud procession site and started shooting into the throng.

Additionally, they kidnapped a number of people, including women and children, and took them to the nearby, terrifying woodland on the edge of the community.

Governor Dikko Radda, meanwhile, visited the impacted hamlet on Monday morning and is reported to have expressed his sympathies to the locals for the event.

It was discovered that the injured are being treated at several hospitals both inside and beyond the council region, and that the deceased have been buried in accordance with Islamic customs.

The state is one of many that must constantly contend with security issues resulting from terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and rustlers, who have left hundreds of people dead, maimed, raped, kidnapped, or their communities looted.

ASP Abubakar Aliyu, a spokesman for the state police command, confirmed the event and stated that 18 people were injured and two persons died while undergoing treatment.

“Yeah, during the Maulud procession at 11 p.m., there was an attack in Musawa LGA. An attack by bandits resulted in 18 persons being shot. For treatment, they were taken to the hospital by helicopter, according to Aliyu.

Two of them passed away later. In order to apprehend the offenders and prosecute them, more research is being conducted.
