A tragic terrorist attack in Türkiye has resulted in multiple deaths, with graphic videos capturing the aftermath. Authorities are investigating the incident as the nation mourns the loss of lives.
According to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on Wednesday, an attack occurred at the headquarters of a defense and aerospace company near Ankara, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.
“A terrorist attack targeted the Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAS) Ankara Kahramankazan facilities,” Yerlikaya posted on X. “Tragically, we have both martyrs and injured individuals as a result of this attack.”
The minister did not offer additional information, assuring that more details would be shared in due time.
Footage posted on social media captures an explosion at the facility, with gunfire audible in certain clips. Several videos and photos depict multiple armed individuals holding rifles fitted with suppressors.
According to Türkiye’s NTV broadcaster, a group of attackers arrived at the facility in a taxi during a security personnel shift change. The network reported that at least one assailant detonated a bomb as others entered the building.
According to NTV, the attackers have taken several hostages. Unverified photos on social media display approximately a dozen individuals held captive in a room, allegedly within the building.
TUSAS, operating under a license from General Dynamics, produces F-16 fighter jets and an extensive array of avionics systems and aircraft components for both civilian and military applications. Additionally, the company constructs jets, attack helicopters, and drones specifically for Turkey’s armed forces. Its major shareholder is the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, which manages state-run military research initiatives and procurement processes.
