Israel bombs the Lebanese capital in a significant escalation. Discover the details and implications of this attack.

An edifice in Beirut, Lebanon suffered destruction after Israel claimed responsibility for the deliberate attack aimed at a Hezbollah leader. The incident has prompted worries of an escalated conflict across the area.

On Tuesday evening, the blast within Beirut’s Haret Hreik neighborhood was reported by Lebanese media, whereas Israeli sources pinpointed Dahieh as the location targeted. It remains uncertain whether airplanes or drones featured in this event.

According to a correspondent from RT Arabic, the strike resulted in the death of at least two individuals and caused injuries to 20 people, including children.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has validated the assault and asserted that it aimed at the Hezbollah leader who was accountable for assaulting a village in Golan Heights on Saturday, resulting in multiple deaths of Israeli people.

By attacking the village of Majdal Shams, Hezbollah has surpassed an established boundary known as the “red line,” according to remarks made by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. This statement aligns with recent comments voiced by Foreign Minister Israel Katz.

On Saturday, a football pitch in Majdal Shams was hit by a rocket resulting in the death of twelve individuals, mostly children. The IDF accused Hezbollah for this tragedy while they denied all charges. Moreover, the Shia militant group had warned to retaliate against any attack carried out by Israel.

The Israeli media has identified Hajj Mohsin, also known as Fuad Shukr, as the intended victim. Sources describe him as a prominent aide to Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah and chief in charge of their precision missile initiative. Furthermore, he is wanted by US authorities for his involvement in orchestrating the bombing of Marine barracks in Beirut during 1983.

For several months, the border between Israel and Hezbollah has been plagued by rocket launches and drone attacks that have necessitated evacuation of nearly 200,000 individuals from both regions.

For months, West Jerusalem has been warning of a potential military strike against Hezbollah while simultaneously carrying out an offensive on Hamas in Gaza. In early June, President Isaac Herzog emphasized the importance of putting a stop to Hezbollah’s terrorist aggression and stated that Israel will take action without cause for surprise from the international community.
