The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) has lost ten crew members as a result of a collision between its helicopters on Tuesday morning during a practice parade.
The military claimed in a statement that the two aircraft crashed at the Lumut TLDM naval installation during a flyby in preparation for a 90th anniversary celebration.
According to the statement, “all victims were confirmed dead on site and the remains were sent to TLDM Military Hospital for identification process.” It also stated that an inquiry into what caused the tragedy had been opened.
There were two helicopters involved: a lightweight Eurocopter Fennec and an AgustaWestland AW139. There were three crew members on one helicopter and seven on the other.

To preserve the privacy of the victims’ relatives, the navy has asked the public to refrain from posting images and videos of the fallen.
