In Iyaganku, Ibadan, a Family Court has made a ruling that Joshua Olayiwola, a teenager, should be held in the Abolongo Correctional facility in Oyo Town.

This decision comes after Olayiwola was accused of defiling an eight-year-old girl who happens to be his neighbor’s daughter.

The police have charged Olayiwola with defilement, and during the court proceedings, Magistrate Mrs. S. A. Adesina did not allow Olayiwola to enter a plea due to jurisdictional limitations.

As a result, the case file has been sent back to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice. The matter has been adjourned until June 13 for mention.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, informed the court that the alleged defilement took place on April 15 between 8 am and 10 pm in the Ojo Ekun area of Ibadan.

Adedeji stated that this act is in violation of Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2006.
