Tears are shed as the Nigerian military bury 22 officers who died in Niger
The National Military Cemetery in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, is serving as the final resting place for no less than 22 military soldiers who lost their lives in action in Niger State.
On August 14, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) confirmed that at least 36 officers had died in combat, according to OBASANJO NEWS24.
Insurgents in Niger State’s Zungeru region shot down the police’ chopper.
In response to recent bandit activity in the Wushishi Local Government Area, the troops were sent to Kundu Village.
The 22 officers who were buried on Friday included some who had already been buried by their individual families.
At the cemetery right now are other service commanders in addition to Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle and Chief of Defence Staff Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa.
