The incident occurred on April 5, 2024, when towers T38, T39, and T40 collapsed due to deliberate acts of vandalism.
The Kontagora-Yauri 132kV Single Circuit line initially tripped on earth fault relay indication, and subsequent attempts to restore power resulted in immediate tripping.
Upon inspection by TCN engineers the following day, it was discovered that the collapsed towers had been completely vandalized.
This prompted the TCN to undertake the necessary repairs and reconstruction to restore electricity supply to the affected area.
