TCN Maintenance to Cause Temporary Blackout in Abuja
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announces scheduled maintenance activities that will result in a temporary power outage across parts of Abuja.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced planned power outages in certain areas of Abuja this weekend due to maintenance work at two transmission substations.
In a statement released on Saturday by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, it was revealed that maintenance activities will occur over the weekend to improve the efficiency of power equipment.
Specifically, engineers will be working on a 60MVA power transformer and its related switchgear at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., which will temporarily affect power supply in Gwagwalada and nearby regions.
Furthermore, TCN indicated that maintenance at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation is scheduled for Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
This work will also involve a 60MVA power transformer and will lead to power interruptions in areas such as Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.
The company expressed its apologies for any inconvenience these outages may cause, particularly during the festive season, while underscoring the necessity of the maintenance work.
