A notorious terrorist was eliminated in Taraba State by the troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS).

The operation occurred on July 29 in the Gbeji-Afia border community, linking to Benue State’s Ukum Local Government Area, according to Captain Oni Olubodunde, who serves as acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations.

The brigade’s broader objective was to eliminate terrorist hideouts and guarantee the safety of Taraba State locals, with this mission being a component thereof.

During a fighting patrol, armed terrorists on a motorcycle were encountered by the troops. Olubodunde specified that “the brave soldiers promptly confronted the criminals in a vehement gun battle resulting in one terrorist being eliminated while the remaining fled into wilderness with bullet injuries.”

Among the retrieved belongings were an AK-47 rifle along with its magazine, seven 7.62MM rounds of special ammunition, two cellphones and various amulets.

Odumegu, the subdued terrorist, was recognized by the military as Full-Fire’s second-in-command. Full-Fire is a notorious gang leader who operates in Taraba and Benue States and has been on security agencies’ radar for some time now.

The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, lauded his soldiers for their unwavering dedication and loyalty. He emphasized that the brigade is determined to sustain its efforts until all terrorist enclaves in Taraba State and surrounding areas are eradicated. Additionally, he expressed appreciation to local communities for supporting and cooperating with them in fighting terrorism by reminding everyone it’s a collective endeavor.

The public was urged by General Uwa to stay alert and promptly inform the nearest security agency of any questionable acts.
