Taraba Governor Mourns as Army Professor Dies at 58 in Abuja
Brigadier General Ali Williams Butu (rtd), an Associate Professor of Geography and Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at the Nigerian Army University, Biu, has passed away.
Hailing from the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Butu died in Abuja after a brief illness at the age of 58.
His burial is scheduled to take place at Butu village, Km 5, Takum-Kashimbilla Road in the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba expressed deep sorrow over Butu’s death, describing it as a significant loss to the state and the nation.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello, the governor highlighted Butu’s wisdom, leadership, and dedication, emphasizing his impact on those who knew him.
The late Butu was recognized for his expertise in geography and environmental sciences, sought after by various entities for consultancy services.
Despite his numerous accomplishments, General Butu was known for his humility and modesty, leaving behind a legacy of intellectualism and dedication to conservation causes.
