The Taraba State Ministry for Youth and Sports Development has warned Nigerians and residents of the state to be cautious of dishonest individuals posing as ministry representatives.

According to reports, certain people circulated the state scamming people, organisations, and corporations under the pretence of seeking support for the ministry.

The Commissioner of the Ministry, Joseph Joshua, said in a statement released on Thursday in Jalingo, the state capital, that the warning was required to stop the public from falling into the clutches of these individuals, whom he referred to as “enemies of progress.”

He claimed that they were also asking N50,000 to assist individuals in enrolling in any national sports academy of their choice.

Joshua claimed that the con artists were working to damage the reputation of the ministry and the state by portraying them as Agbu Kefas’ adversaries.

“Anyone who knows whoever is piloting this merchandise of dishonour, to con and feed this act of falsehood to tarnish the image of the present administration, should report to me immediately without any delay,” he stated. “Necessary steps will be taken on such person’s or groups of person’s.”
