“We confirm Clemence Felix Mtenga’s death with great sadness,” a foreign ministry statement stated late on Friday.
How Mtenga died was not mentioned.
According to the ministry, “we would also like to inform the public that Joshua is still missing as we continue to follow his whereabouts.”
In reaction to the October 7 strikes, which according to Israeli sources claimed 1,200 lives, the most of them civilians, and resulted in the kidnapping of 240 hostages, Israel has promised to destroy Hamas.
Since then, 12,000 people—5,000 of them children—have died as a result of the army’s air and ground campaign, according to the Hamas government, which has controlled Gaza since 2007.
