The Chief Spokesman of Obi-Datti, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, responded to Mr. Calistus Okafofor’s claim about the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Bar Julius Abure, giving N850 million to Peter Obi for the 2023 election campaign.
Tanko refuted the allegation, stating that Obi did not receive any funds from the party. He emphasized that it was actually Obi who contributed money to the party.
Tanko challenged Okafor to provide evidence if the chairman indeed claimed to have given money to Obi for campaign purposes.
He asserted that he was actively involved in the campaign and was aware of the expenses incurred, confirming that the party did not directly fund Obi’s campaign rallies nationwide.
The Campaign spokesman highlighted that Obi and his supporters were well-informed about the smear campaign against the LP leader, orchestrated by those threatened by his growing popularity among Nigerians.
Tanko condemned the distractions from pressing issues like insecurity and poverty, attributing them to individuals with ulterior motives for the 2027 elections. He expressed confidence that God would thwart their plans and save the nation from their influence.
