Tanker struck by missile launched from Yemen
Tuesday saw a missile fired from a Houthi-controlled region of Yemen strike a tanker flying the Norwegian flag in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The attack started a fire aboard the tanker STRINDA, according to a statement from the U.S. Central Command, but no deaths were recorded.
The missile, which struck the ship while it was passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, was believed to be an anti-ship cruise missile, according to CENTCOM.
According to CENTCOM, no US ships were in the area when the attack occurred. In response to the event, the destroyer USS Mason of the United States Navy arrived and helped the STRINDA.
In addition to firing missiles and drones towards Israel, the Houthi terrorists, who have received support from Iran, have launched their most recent offensive in or near the Red Sea.
The Houthis declared on Saturday that they would attack any ship passing through Yemen’s crucial shipping lanes on its way to Israel.
