SUV Rams Into Cows on Busy Lagos Road, Crushing Two to Death
A tragic incident occurred on a busy Lagos road as an SUV collided with a herd of cows, killing two. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
An Acura SUV collided with a herd of cattle in Lagos, killing two cattle and causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
In a statement by the spokesman for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Adebayo Taofiq, the incident occurred on Sunday at Iyana Oworo towards Ogudu where the cattle were crossing the road.
Taofiq said: “An Acura SUV (AAA 818 HV) collided with two cattle, killing them and causing extensive damage to the vehicle. The accident occurred today at Iyana Oworo towards Ogudu where the herd of cattle was crossing the highway. We have called for further investigation at the Ogudu Police Station.
Another accident also occurred on Sunday at Ifako Bridge, leaving five people injured. The accident involved a Mazda commercial bus and a minibus which were travelling towards Ogudu. Taofik disclosed that the driver of the Mazda bus became distracted while eating and lost control of the vehicle.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that the accident was aggravated by a sudden brake failure of the Mazda bus, leaving five passengers, one male and four females, injured.
Taofik further added that “in collaboration with the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), the victims were immediately attended to and taken to the Accident and Emergency Centre near the toll plaza on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.” Olalekan Bakare Oki of LASTMA condoled with the victims and called on drivers, especially commercial drivers, to remain vigilant to put safety first and avoid risky driving behaviours.
