Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, declared on Friday that the $300 helicopter landing fee will be temporarily suspended.
The fee was rejected by Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), claiming that it would be detrimental to the airline’s business. This led to the decision.
According to a statement released by Odutayo Oluseyi, the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s spokesperson, a committee has been tasked with investigating the concerns expressed by interested parties and producing a report by the end of June

The statement says as follows: “Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has temporarily suspended the enforcement granted to Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd, by the Federal Government, as consultants to collect such levies, following a meeting with the AON executive on the issue bordering on Helicopter landing levies collection at Aerodromes, Helipads, Air Strips, etc.”
The suspension will take effect on May 30, 2024. The Minister claimed that several industry stakeholders have been demanding a review, which is why this has happened.
In light of this, Keyamo has established a Committee, whose members are selected from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and its affiliated Agencies, as well as from Nigerian airline operators, AON, international oil companies, IOCs, and Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd. The Committee’s mandate is to investigate the concerns expressed by interested parties and produce a report by the end of June 2024, at the latest.
“The Federal Government, acting as consultants, gave Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd the sole authority to levy these taxes, despite the fact that stakeholders have voiced concerns about the levies’ appropriateness. The Committee’s proposal would provide a course of action.
