These individuals include High Chief Obajemu of Ekan land, Michael Ademola Oyinloye, High Chief Esinkin of Ekan land, Thomas Olarewaju Ashaolu, and Chief Obaoye of Ekan land, Gabriel Oluwasegun Olarewaju.
The decision to suspend these chiefs was made during an expanded meeting of the Elekan in Council, which took place at the palace of the Elekan of Ekan.
A communique was issued at the conclusion of the meeting, and it was signed by Chief Obanurin of Ekanland, Chief Awoyemi Raphael Ajiboye, and Osolo of Ekanland, Chief Timothy Jolayemi.
The communique outlined several reasons for the suspension, including the chiefs’ failure to attend scheduled meetings, disloyalty, breach of confidence, an intolerable level of indiscipline, and abominable behavior that is not befitting of their esteemed positions within the community.
In light of these serious allegations, the Elekan in council unanimously decided to suspend the chiefs indefinitely, effective immediately.
This suspension will remain in place until further investigations and disciplinary proceedings have taken place.
The communique emphasized that the suspended chiefs are prohibited from identifying themselves as high chiefs of Ekanland and are forbidden from participating in any palace or traditional activities within the town.
It urged all residents of Ekan and the general public to take note of this development and respond accordingly.
