Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, the temporarily suspended rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, resumed his duties on Thursday.
He restarted at precisely 7:57 a.m., according to OBASANJO NEWS24.
On Monday, July 24, the state government announced the suspension in a letter that was signed by Kehinde Jimoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education.
Due to severe financial embezzlement and official misconduct, Odetayo was placed on leave.
He was replaced as acting rector by the institution’s lecturer Kehinde Alabi.
Since Alabi had been appointed in an acting capacity, the local chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, or ASUP, took action by suspending academic activities.
The Institution’s students also demonstrated, calling for the start of classes once more.
Odetayo’s reinstatement as Rector is the outcome of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division’s ruling, according to Dr. Ezekiel Alabi, Chairman of the Osun Poly ASUP, who confirmed the situation to the Daily Post.
“Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo was reinstated by a court decision on Friday of last week.
You are aware that Friday is the last day of the workweek; therefore, all 15 parties to the lawsuit were officially served by Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, as you are aware, there was a countrywide strike. As a result, he returned to the office today, the man claimed.
Alabi praised the state’s governor, Ademola Adeleke, for adhering to the court’s ruling.
Additionally, he hoped that the state government would respect the law and show up for the notice of hearing on October 10, 2023.
