A suspended commissioner faces legal action in a Shari’a court following allegations of an illicit affair with a married woman, stirring controversy in the community.

The Upper Shari’a Court 1 in Kofar Kudu, Kano State is scheduled to commence proceedings on a criminal case against Auwal Danladi Sankara, the suspended Commissioner for Special Duties of Jigawa State, on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024.

The complaint was submitted by Nasiru Bulama, alleging that Sankara engaged in an illicit affair with his wife—an act that would breach Islamic law if substantiated.

The case attracted public attention after Sankara was arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board last Thursday. He was discovered in a compromising position with a married woman in an unfinished building at Lamido Crescent, Nassarawa GRA, Kano.

As a result of this incident, the Jigawa State government suspended him from his official duties.

Sankara’s attorney, Sadam Ibrahim, claims that his client is innocent and prepared to defend himself in court. “Our client is determined to clear his name and ensure justice prevails,” stated Ibrahim.
