Suspected Ritualist Murders Girlfriend, Dismembers Body in Kwara

A suspected ritualist in Kwara has brutally murdered his girlfriend and dismembered her body in a shocking act of violence. Authorities have launched an investigation.
A final-year student from the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin, Kwara State, has been killed and dismembered by an individual suspected to be involved in ritualistic practices.
Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde was tragically killed by her boyfriend, whom she had met through social media.
The suspected murderer allegedly dismembered her body for ritualistic purposes following the gruesome killing.
However, authorities in the Kwara State police department have announced that they have apprehended the suspected killer.
Yetunde disappeared on Monday, February 10, 2025. She was attending a naming ceremony when she received a phone call from a friend. Witnesses report that she put down her food to take the call and then departed shortly after.
Since then, we have been looking for her everywhere without success. No one had any information about where she might be. On Tuesday, her parents went to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin to file a report. The police asked for her phone number and used it to trace her last call. This led them to someone residing in the Offa Garage District area of Ilorin, although his family’s home is located in Isalekuto.
The suspect was taken into custody but initially claimed he had no knowledge of the woman’s location. However, after police searched his house, he admitted that she had been in the vicinity and passed away from an asthma attack following his invitation for her to come over.
After conducting a more thorough investigation, the police discovered the woman’s dismembered body concealed in a bowl, alongside the tools used for this act. The suspect is currently at police headquarters in Ilorin.
I applaud the Kwara State Police Command, Ojo Oba, for their outstanding work in resolving this case. The young woman who passed away was a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin. They initially connected on Facebook, where he acquired her phone number before calling and inviting her to meet him.
A source informed Channels Television that, alarmingly, evidence discovered in the suspect’s house indicates this might not be his first offense. A table in his room seemed to have tools designed for dismembering bodies.
In the meantime, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, stated that investigations into the matter are currently underway.
The spokesperson stated that right after the issue was reported, “the police detectives promptly took action by tracking her number and arresting a suspect, with exhibits recovered. The case was transferred yesterday to the SCID for thorough investigation.”
Yetunde’s death contributes to the growing list of women who have reportedly been killed by their boyfriends in recent months.
At the beginning of the year, 32-year-old Timilehin Ajayi was reported to have killed his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu, and decapitated her. The case remains under judicial review.
Earlier this month, law enforcement in Akwa Ibom initiated an investigation into the brutal murder of makeup artist Emrich Effanga.
Effanga was reportedly killed by her boyfriend, identified as Ndifreke.
