Alhaji Yakubu Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the 2023 governorship election in Kogi State, strongly denounced the recent attack by suspected herdsmen on the Agojeju-Odo community in Omala Local Government Area.
Speaking from Lokoja in a statement released on Saturday, Ajaka emphasized the urgent need for immediate measures to halt the continuous assaults in the region.
Reports indicated that 25 individuals lost their lives in the assault, with many others sustaining injuries and significant damage to agricultural produce.
Ajaka stressed the sanctity and significance of every citizen’s life, highlighting the state’s duty to shield the populace from both internal and external threats.
He urged the state government to fulfill its primary obligation of ensuring the safety of Kogi residents, emphasizing the necessity to address the ongoing conflicts and escalating insecurity by allocating essential resources for resolution and prevention.

Additionally, Ajaka called upon the Federal Government to step in and assist in safeguarding the citizens, expressing confidence that the President would not permit the spread of insecurity across any part of the nation.
He warned against allowing Kogi State to deteriorate into a war zone, emphasizing that preserving lives must be the foremost concern in governance.
