The Internal Displaced People (IDP) camp at Agan in Benue’s Makurdi Local Government Area was the target of another attack, according to the Benue State Police Command, in which several people were slain by herdsmen-like individuals.
In a phone call with Channels in Benue State, the police spokesman, DSP Sewuese Anene, confirmed the incident that happened yesterday night and killed several lives at the IDP camps, however the exact number of casualties is yet unknown.
The commissioner of police, Wale Abasse, will visit the assault site very early in the morning to explain what happened and to determine the number of casualties, but a reaction team has already been sent to the area, according to DSP Sewuese who further added this information.
The attackers killed 46 people, including a 33-year-old son of the local government chairman, in the Otukpo Local Government Area on Wednesday before moving on to an IDP camp in Makurdi, the state capital, where they carried out this attack, which came after they killed a traditional ruler and many others earlier in the week in Apa Local Government Area of Benue.
