Samad, a 23-year-old man who drove a business tricycle, was apparently killed in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state, on Sunday in a cult-related attack.

It is the second death linked to a cult in the capital of the state in the past three days.

Remember that on Friday, Eid-el-Fitr, a group of unnamed people, thought to be cultists from Lagos, killed two people in the Ganmo area, which is near the state capital, Ilorin.

Obasanjonews24 heard that members of a supposed secret cult killed Samad and dumped his body in front of a mosque in the Abayawo area of Ilorin metropolis.

Eyewitnesses said that the attackers shot the tricyclist and cut off his left eye and left hand.

It was thought that the attack happened at around 12 a.m. on Sunday in the villages of Abayawo and Gambari, causing chaos while the trouble lasted.

Sources say that two cults that were fighting over who was the best were involved in a fierce gun war.

A person who lives in Abayawo said that a group of young men with guns and other dangerous tools rode into the neighbourhood on tricycles at about 9 p.m. on Sunday.

The source said that chaos broke out as people ran for safety as the cult members shot repeatedly starting at 9 p.m. The source also said that Samad was killed around 4 a.m. when he came out and was attacked by the cult members, who shot him.

“Samad was being chased and shot when he tried to get away through a turn. After it was sure that he was dead, his body was dragged to the main road in front of the mosque, where his left eye and left hand were cut off and taken away.

Samad, the bicycle driver, is said to have been buried on Monday morning at the Muslim graveyard in Osere, Ilorin.

On Tuesday, our reporter tried to get in touch with Okasanmi Ajayi, who is the spokeswoman for the state police command, to find out what was going on. However, he did not answer his phone or reply to her text messages.
