A suspected Boko Haram terrorist attack in Borno has left 5 dead and 15 farmers abducted. Discover the latest on the tragic event.
In a shocking incident that took place in Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly killed five farmers and abducted 15 others.
The attack occurred just hours after President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babagana Zulum assured farmers of enhanced security in their Independence Day addresses.
Eyewitnesses said the terrorists launched the attack while the farmers were tending their fields.
Among those killed was Jubril Zarana, a valiant member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who actively participated in efforts to repel the attack alongside security operatives.
“The attack also killed Jubril Dada Zarana, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and five other civilians. The terrorists attacked farmers who were working in their fields.

“Despite efforts by security forces, including the army and the CJTF, the attackers could not be thwarted for long. Jubril Zarana tragically lost his life defending his community, while the other victims were captured alive.
“After reaching the base, the terrorists brutally executed five of the captives, namely Isa Musa Mohd Diyala, Dogras, Salahuddin Suleman Dada Lawan, Mariam Gwamblan and Baba Amos.”
“The three female prisoners were subsequently released.” They reported that several victims, including Anna Andrew Gadzawaga, Hauwa Bulaga and two boys, are still being held hostage,” another source said.
“Among those still missing are Babawo Kanin Shagari, Umi Trabos and Babson Yaron Teacher.
“On this Independence Day, when we should be celebrating freedom, human rights and progress, our people are instead experiencing heartache, fear and despair.
“Despite severe hardships and shortages of basic necessities, they choose to remain in their homeland out of love for their country.” Neither the government nor NGOs are providing them with food and the little agricultural activity they are doing to survive is threatening their lives,” they added.
